Peuple Souverain

A quick post about another French ship for the Nile - 74 gun Peuple Souverain.

Like L'Orient, this was yellow, as are the final 3 ships I need to do. For a bit of variety I have given the ship purplish inner bulwarks, red cannons and a lighter highlight tone to the deck.

A bit of a break from modelling now as we are moving house soon so things need to get packed up!

New blog name

I've been toying with updating my blog name, as the model and Wargames was to the point but unimaginative! In the end I've plumped for '74s to 88s' as, well I like numbers, and those 2 represent my biggest areas of interest, ships of the line and WW2!

A bit more catchy?

L'Orient - French flagship at the Nile

Fresh from the dockyard, comes the first ship in the final run to the Aboukir Bay fleets being complete.

The French Flagship - L'Orient.

It blew up at the Nile in spectacular fashion. Hopefully that won't happen to the model as a few hours have gone into it!

My last few ships have been Skytrex, which are fine ships, but the Langtons are a real pleasure. Beautiful models.

Some close detail of the deck area:

...and of the stern....

And the bow.

I'm not an expert painter or modeller at all, but overall pretty pleased with it. Should make a good focal point for the French fleet!

Next up 2 French 74s and a couple of Frigates!
