1/1200 langton 98 gun

My most recent attempt at the langton miniatures - a 98 gun, 'Neptune' class ship of the line.

I was a bit ill and virus-y doing this one, so while I am not disappointed, I also think there are a few bits I might've got a bit better on another day!

1/1200 langton 64 gun

Second attempt at a langton miniature - this time a 64 gun ship of the line, similar to HMS Agamemnon, Nelsons's supposedly favourite ship.

Pleased with the rigging on this one, a bit 'tighter'.

1/1200 Langton 38 gun frigate

My current project is putting some fleets together to try out the 'Blood, Bilge and Iron Balls' rules. I was lucky enough to get a British and French 'starter fleet' from Langton miniatures for Christmas, so I've had a go! Beautiful models, just hope I can do them justice.

20p for scale! They are really small and fiddly...but strangely enjoyable....

Some other World War 2 bits and bobs.

So, I had quite a few plastic kits and bits floating around! Here are some other world war 2 forces I have put together....

SS Wiking tank battalion from Rapid Fire book on German units on the Eastern Front:

A generic Germany infantry regiment from the old 'Rapid Forces' books:

The regiment can be used from early to mid war with upgrading the Pak 36s on the left to the Pak 38 on the right. At some point I'll get a Pak 50 and some more panzerschrek units to enable it to be used all the way through to 1944.

Rapid Fire! 400 point 50th (Northumbrian) infantry Division

To go up against my Panzer Lehr I have the 400 point 50th Infantry division. I've organised the units as the 151st Infantry Brigade made up of the Durham Light Infantry. I had quite a few British infantry plastic models lying around which is why I went for this force. The models are a mixture of Airfix/Revell/Matchbox, but with a battalion of Valiants and some of the Ready to Roll resin vehicles. Also some SHQ and Brittania models I think.

Rapid Fire! Normandy battle group - 400 point Panzer Lehr

My first project since coming back into the hobby last summer was to update my Rapid Fire! forces. I purchased the 'Normandy Battlegroups' book and set about putting together a 400 point Panzer Lehr force. A really interesting unit, but equally while the book gives them lots of SdKfz 251 carriers, I've since learned that while they were given them, they were never actually used and were kept in the rear!
Battlegroup HQ

The figures are a mixture of plastic Airfix/Matchbox/Revell with metal figures from SHQ, Brittania and TQD.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my new blog, where I will attempt to post a variety of articles looking at my wargaming hobby. I have recently rediscovered wargaming after about 10-15 years and have really enjoyed getting back into the hobby. This has largely been down to the great guys at New Buckenham Historical Wargamers club in Norfolk, who run a range of thoroughly impressive and amazing games on a Friday night. They have an excellent Facebook page which I recommend checking out, and I will try and post links on here too. While I did play Warhammer and 40k when younger, I stick to the historical stuff now.

I have played different rule sets and games - before joining the club I had played mainly Rapid Fire and DBA, but since joining the club I have also played Black Powder, Impetus, Fire and Fury and many more! I have also bought Alan Abbey's 'Blood Bilge and Iron Balls' Napoleonic naval rules which I have yet to play, but I am getting the ships together for it as my current project.

Thank you for looking at my blog, and happy reading!
